The Voices of South Africa

Cape Town Opera has adopted a policy of empowering previously disadvantaged artists by undertaking the training and development of South African singers and artists – white, coloured and black ones.

Following some of the extraordinary coloured and black singers of Cape Town Opera we will not only show their life within the surrounding of the Cape Town Opera House, but mostly in their ordinary life, when every evening after the show they go back home to the townships where they all still live – a balancing act between the glory on stage and the dangerous and poor everyday life in South Africa.

We will watch them how they fight for a better living, and we will find out about their real dreams and hopes for the future of their country.
